Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS)

Seven types of water-using and water-saving products are regulated under the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) scheme.

The seven products that are included under this scheme are:

• Taps
• Showers
• Dishwashers
• Washing Machines
• Lavatory Equipment
• Urinals
• Flow Controllers

Requirements detailed in the WELS standard include product testing, rating, labelling and display, such as information that must be on the water rating label (star rating, water consumption, flow rates).
