Recalls are formal campaigns aimed at withdrawing and/or prohibiting the sale of unsafe products from a particular market. These products are determined to be defective, after entering the stream of commerce. This process involves extensive coordination by a safety regulator, as well as manufacturers and brand owners. It includes overseeing recalled-party obligations, refunds, product returns, replacements or retrofit kits, consumer and merchant education, agency reporting, etc. The culmination of these duties is often laid out in a Corrective Action Plan (CAP).
Any product recall initiated by the manufacturer, brand owner, or government regulatory entity means the specific products cannot be bought or sold on the Wish platform. All existing product recalls can be found here.
Prohibited items are a much broader category of products than recalled items. These generally include any illegal products or products that pose a health, environmental, or safety risk. Prohibited items are those that Wish determines to be banned from being listed on the platform.
Here are some of the types of Prohibited products that merchants may not sell on Wish:
- Products that do not follow product safety legislation, regulations, or standards
- Products lacking required conformity markings (e.g., CE markings)
- Products constituting health, environmental, or safety hazards
- Products identified on the following websites as unsafe, hazardous, defective, and/or dangerous:
